Director of Business Development

Remote - New Orleans, LA

Department: Business Development

Reports To: Chief Strategy Officer

Location: Remote, USA

Position Type: Salaried/Exempt

Estimated Travel: 20% - 30%

The Opportunity:

The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving new revenue growth through active, outbound business development, originating opportunities, opening doors, and converting relationships into long-term client partnerships across live events, experiential marketing, branded activations, and permanent immersive experiences. This role is designed for a high-energy, high-confidence leader who combines disciplined outbound selling with the ability to maintain and expand established client relationships.

The Director of Business Development is expected to act as a creative and strategic partner to prospects and clients, identifying market threats, business challenges, and growth opportunities, and translating them into compelling experiential solutions in collaboration with Creative, Strategy, and Production teams.

Ideally, this individual comes from the agency world, bringing a strong Rolodex of brand-side relationships, while also demonstrating the hunger and discipline to build new relationships from scratch.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Proactively generate new business through outbound prospecting, including cold calls, warm introductions, follow-ups, and strategic outreach, while leveraging an existing network of brand-side and agency relationships.

• Own pipeline development end-to-end, from first contact through proposal, negotiation, close, and transition to execution teams.

• Act as a creative and strategic partner in the sales process, diagnosing client challenges, competitive threats, and growth opportunities.

• Translate client objectives, audience insights, and business constraints into strategically sound, creatively compelling, and commercially viable experiential concepts in partnership with Creative and Production teams.

• Lead the development and delivery of high-quality client presentations, including structuring decks, articulating strategic narratives, and confidently presenting ideas to senior brand, agency, and partner stakeholders.

• Serve as a senior client-facing lead during pitches and early engagement, adding value beyond relationship maintenance.

• Apply an analytical and strategic mindset to opportunity evaluation, ensuring ideas are grounded in client reality and measurable outcomes.

• Maintain a working understanding of production complexity, timelines, and feasibility to ensure proposed solutions are executable.

• Own revenue targets, pipeline health, win-rate optimization, and long-term client value.

• Shape go-to-market strategy, including sector focus, priority accounts, and proactive outreach plans.

• Develop senior, multi-project client partnerships rooted in strategic problem-solving, not transactional selling.

• Represent Solomon Group externally with credibility, insight, and confidence.

• Thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment that rewards initiative, persistence, and results.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• 10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or senior agency roles within experiential marketing, live events, sports, or media.

• Agency background strongly preferred, with experience working closely with creative and production teams.

• Existing Rolodex of brand-side decision makers, paired with a demonstrated willingness to cold call and build new relationships.

• Proven ability to identify client challenges and translate them into strategic, creative solutions.

• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, combined with creative intuition.

• Working knowledge of production, experiential execution, and operational constraints.

• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.

• Strong presentation skills, with demonstrated ability to build compelling decks and deliver clear, persuasive presentations to senior executives and decision-makers.

• Entrepreneurial mindset with a high personal drive to sell, think, and create value.

SALARY RANGE:  $150,000 – $200,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and overall alignment with the role.
